Does the South Sea belong to China?
Xi Jinping, Chinese leader, stated:
“While the green hills last, there will be wood to burn. If we maintain our strategy … we will find opportunity in crisis and turbulence. The Chinese people will surely prevail over all difficulties and challenges ahead”.
From what is happening in the South Sea, it appears that China thinks that they own it!

A few days back, Australia followed the United States of America, by rejecting claims made by China, that the South Sea was theirs. Australia said:
“There is no legal basis for China to draw straight baselines connecting the outermost points of maritime features or ‘island groups’ in the South China Sea, including around the ‘Four Sha’ or ‘continental’ or ‘outlying’ archipelagos.”
People’s Daily, China Tweeted:
“A naval aviation brigade with the PLA Southern Theater Command conducted a live-fire drill in the SouthChinaSea. Dozens of fighter jets flew at ultra-low altitudes and attacked the sea-based targets in turn.”
Lowy Institute, Senior Fellow, Richard McGregor, says:
“Generally speaking the chances of some kind of conflict in the South China Sea are rising.”
“It’s easier when the targets don’t hit back!”
