Interpol warning of illegal and fake Covid-19 test kits!
Interpol issued an orange warning to police forces in 194 member countries about criminals preparing to target vaccines sold online.
According to the Interpol warning, criminal gangs are also more likely to start parallel production and distribution of illegal and fake Covid-19 test kits, when there is a need for negative test results in travel records.
Interpol also warned the public to pay special attention when searching online for medical equipment or medications. People faced dangers not only from potentially life-threatening products, they say, but also from cyber threats.
The Interpol warning said that the pandemic has caused “unprecedented opportunistic crime” and warned of a new wave of criminal activity “related to counterfeiting, stealing and illegal advertising of Covid- vaccines- 19.
As the COVID 19 vaccine got closer to approval and for distribution all over, the Interpol warning called for cooperation and coordination amongst law enforcement and health regulators, to identify websites and secure supply chains of the COVID 19 vaccine.
Interpol said that an analysis by the cybercriminal unit of about 3,000 online pharmaceutical websites suspected of selling illegal products, found that more than 1,700 pages contained phishing or spam malware.
