The Roland Garros tournament is over for Magda. She and Kateryna Kozłowa, in the second round of doubles, finished their performance in the Grand Slam Roland Garros 2020. The Polish-Ukrainian couple lost to the American teen duo Cori Gauff and Catherine McNally 0: 6, 6: 3, 2: 6.

Despite their young age, Cori Gauff and Catherine McNally have already shown themselves very well in the main series. The Americans triumphed in two WTA International tournaments (Washington, Luxembourg 2019) and in January this year they reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open 2020 Grand Slam.

No wonder then that the teenage Americans were the favorites of the match against Magda Linette and Kateryna Kozłowa, who previously played together without success in January tournaments in Hobart and Melbourne (Australian Open). Gauff and McNally won the first set 6-0, in just 21 minutes, breaking the service of the Polish woman twice and the Ukrainian once.

First, Magda Linette kept the service and in the third game they managed to break McNally’s pass. Then the 18-year-old lost her game again and it was 5: 2. Kozłowa did not win in the set then. The game ended in the ninth game, however, when Gauff made a double mistake on the third set ball.

The beginning of the decisive set was very nervous in the performance of the four ladies. Each of them lost their nerves and with this state, the Americans showed an advantage. Gauff and McNally broke the service of Linette and Kozłowa, and thanks to that after 88 minutes they won 6-0, 3: 6, 6: 2.

Gauff and McNally have a chance at the second Grand Slam quarter-final of the season. Their next opponents will be, seeded with “three”, Belgian Elise Mertens and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka or Americans Asia Muhammad and Jessica.

In such circumstances, Magda Linette and Kozlowa finished their performance in the doubles tournament in the second round.
