Tesla Inc Company recalls 48,442 of its vehicles.
China’s State Market Regulatory Authority announced that Tesla Inc Company has recalled about 50,000 of its Model S and Model X electric vehicles.
Tesla is recalling 48,442 of its Model S and Model X electric vehicles manufactured in the US and sold to customers in China, due to potentially faulty and unsafe front and rear suspensions.
American and Chinese media reports that the recall in China will affect 29,193 imported X and S models that were manufactured between 17 September, 2013 and 16 August, 2017, and 19,249 imported S models that were manufactured between 17 September, 2013 and 15 August, 2017. The cars were manufactured at Tesla’s plant in Fremont, California.
China’s State Market Regulatory Authority announced the recall Thursday night. Tesla’s share price then dropped nearly 2 percent on Friday.
The callback message of Tesla Inc Company, passed by China’s market regulator named SAMR, included 29,193 Model S and Model X produced between September 17, 2013 and August 16, 2017, according to Gasgoo, China’s auto industry news site. The remaining 19,249 vehicles are all Model S and the production process is shown between 17 September 2013 and 15 October 2018.
The US vehicle safety authority, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, did not say whether a similar recall would be necessary in the United States.
The vehicles have suspension problems. The faulty Teslas were produced in California and then exported to China. It is not clear whether the Tesla Inc Company cars will also be recalled in the USA.
