TikTok ban by countries… Why?
TikTok, the app owned by Chinese billionaire Zhang Yiming, has been facing a very hard time, in the last few weeks. Since the past few years, TikTok has accumulated over two billion users and it has gained a reputation as being the hottest social media platform in the globe.
But in recent weeks, there has been a TikTok ban by more and more countries… What is the reason for this?
Here is a Tweet by Anonymous:
“Tiktok is used as spyware by the Chinese government. The app grabs not only your info but that of friends, family, and acquaintances. It uses that info to find/spy on people critical of the CCP, if they happen to be Chinese or have family in China they go after them.”
Anonymous further Tweets:
“If you use Tiktok it makes it easier for the CCP to find/target dissenters, minorities, political opponents, or their families abroad, as it has been the case with many. In many cases, this is what the CCP does with people.”
In the previous week, there was a TikTok ban by India and 58 other Chinese apps were also banned by India. On Monday, Mike Pompeo, U.S. Secretary of State, stated:
The United States is also “looking at” banning TikTok and other Chinese social media apps as well. And just one day later, Donald Trump, the President of America confirmed this when he said:
“It’s something we’re looking at, yes. It’s a big business. Look, what happened with China with this virus, what they’ve done to this country and to the entire world is disgraceful.”
“Don’t support #CCP China by using TikTok, we can dance on another app that doesn’t steal your user data to oppress people.”
TikTok is now being heavily scrutinized by powerful countries and this could very well lead to a TikTok ban by more and more countries.
